Projects... Projects...

The first project, we named it "Hall of Fame". In our Home Sweet Home, we found the perfect spot to showcase our journey of being together. We decided the theme should be "black", not the wall to be painted black but to display our photos with black photo frames. Hmm... Where to get all the standardized photo frames to fill the wall? As usual, we went to Ikea. We managed to gather and arranged the photo frames on the spot to get some idea. Yes! A good start for this 2008 project. And the results are...

Project: Hall of Fame

---
I love to make DIY photo frames. Not one, not two but MANY... of them. I need to showcase all my creative masterpiece. But where? Hunting time again! I can't hang them, as we need to save the hassle of drilling the wall again. Finally, I saw a nice spot on our cabinet at our front entrance. I shall named it "Table of Fame". Yeah, a new project for year 2009! I would like to dedicate this project to my precious son, Jia Hern.

Project: Table of Fame

---
Recently, we developed many photos. For every 100 pieces of 4R, we are entitled to get free a 8R. Well, it will be a waste if we don't display them. Again... we got all the photo frames from Ikea. The main question pop up as usual. Where to put them? No drilling any wall please, said my dear. Ta da! Our divider seem to be a VERY promising spot. I just need some yarn to tie up all my photo frames and hang them easily. It should be our "D' Fame"...

Project: D' Fame

Upcoming project! Discovered a NEW spot!

Happy Birthday to ME!

Delicious Mud cake

Its Holiday Time!

Holiday! We need a break! We need to get away from this busy life! We need to spend $$$! We need to go for an adventure, just the three of us!

That is what I am going to plan once my dear get everything done with his studies. As usual, surfing through the internet is the best & fast method for gathering any information. With a click away, you may get anything you want or anything that is irrelevant at all! Headache to screen through the websites...

The results are:

Must GO to Aquaria KLCC
Why? A promise given to Hern Hern, once he learned to walk independently.

Prisoner of the Day @ Sunway Pyramid

Feeding time!

Urgh... I am still hungry though. I am a big boy already.

More FOOD please! Or I will sue you for neglecting a child.

Yes! FOOD! FOOD!

I am a prisoner in this baby proof box...

Anyone out there to save me?

We found this interesting place to entertain our Hern Hern while able to feed him at a same time. Its like "killing two birds with one stone". This is one of the baby room provided at Sunway Pyramid. In this special place, it provides a breasfeeding room, diaper changing area and MOST importantly we called "jail" to trap our Hern Hern inside. He was amused with this new place (super safe with the padded wall), and we saved the hassle of chasing him around to feed him.

The Day Before... 28 March 2010

Wow! Another year of me getting wiser and more mature. This age is just nice for 3 pieces of RM10, and no change at all! Time do really flies fast. I still remember last year my birthday was the same day as the Earth Hour. My son was just 2 months old. My dear was away for a training, and my mom came and stayed with us. We celebrated under the pitch dark, at least I did contributed to the special day.

But this year... It was special. Celebration with my dear and our toddler son. Not necessary we need a major celebration, just the three of us was meaningful for me. A happy and healthy family; laughing and talking, eating and drinking, loitering at shopping centers, ALL togehter.

My pre-birthday celebration @ Tony Roma's. The best salad, fresh & healthy.

My Romantic Date. And of course, my dear too!

At the end of the day, a tea time at Secret Recipe. Enjoying my birthday cake "Black Forest Cheese Cake" and Jasmine Green Tea.

Happy Birthday to ME, MYSELF & I!

Hern Hern the "Active Boy"

Since our Hern Hern started to walk independently, he is even more active now. He will walk to every corner of the house, climb to anything he can reach to, touch anything that is within his arm reach, pick anything up that is visible to his eyes, want to taste anything we eat and drink, open any cabinets that is accessible, dance and shake buttock to any music, smile and greet to anyone and the lists goes on and on...

Here is the example of CAUGHT IN THE ACT!

Firstly, climb on the chair. Next, touch the picture frame hanging on the divider. Yeah!

After that, dance on the chair. Lastly, gave mommy a smile.

Passing Game

Our Hern Hern is REALLY an active boy. You won't be able to see him either stand or sit quietly at one spot for at least 1 minute. He will roam, walk, crawl, busy playing, moving his hands around, biting his fingers, climbing up & down the sofa and etc.

I must admit he is the Little Helper in the house. Today, we gave him a piece of paper. Initially, I am the one holding it. But I asked Hern Hern for help to pass it to daddy. He happily walked over to me and took the paper and walked towards to daddy and gave it to him. Daddy's turn to ask for help in passing the paper to me. As usual, Hern Hern is very helpful. He walked to daddy, took the paper and gave it to me. Hehe... Mommy's turn again asking for Hern Hern for help again. Again and again... from daddy to mommy, mommy to daddy, our little boy patiently pass the paper between us. (ahem... for nearly 5 rounds)

Besides that, whenever, I do the laundry, definitely he will sit beside me aiming at my clothes pegs. Sometimes you will see the clothes pegs flying around and landed on the floor or sometimes he will pass them to me when I needed it.

20 Things That Change When You Have A Baby

or maybe even MORE!

• You discover an inner strength you never realised you had.

• You accept that the last 15 pregnancy pounds you can't seem to shift are absolutely worth it.

• You don't need a clock any more - your baby now sets your daily schedule.

• You respect and love your own parents in a new way.

• Any pain your baby suffers feels much worse than your own.

• You don't mind going to bed at 9pm on a Friday night.

• Your heart breaks much more easily.

• You discover how much there is to say about one little baby tooth.

• You look at your baby in the mirror instead of yourself.

• You're no longer disgusted by babies' bodily functions - in fact, you're fascinated by them (hooray, a poo!)

• The sacrifices you thought you'd made to have a baby no longer seem that big a deal.

• You respect your body ... finally.

• You realise that a baby's comforter has magical powers!

• You give parents with a screaming baby an "I-know-the-feeling" look, instead of a "Can't-they-shut-him-up?" one.

• You make time for one more baby hug and kiss, even if it means you'll be late.

• You realise that it's possible to love a complete stranger.

• You learn that taking a shower is a luxury, never mind a trip to the hairdresser's.

• You finally get to speak to the shy neighbour in your street, because you've got a baby in your arms.

• You find that things that once seemed important are now meaningless.

• Every day is a surprise.

Parenthood- An Incredible Journey

When I knew I was pregnant with my first child, I was so happy and anticipated to know more about the growing baby inside me. I been surfing the internet and reading books and magazines on parenting. My favorite website www.babycenter.com, was my best friend since then.

During my pregnancy, I got a bigger responsibilities. Not only I must take care of myself, I also need to protect my baby inside me. Everything I did, I will put my baby as my TOP priority first. I been browsing and reading for information on the Do's and Don't during pregnancy. "Prevention is better then cure"... something that you say which means it is better to stop something bad happening than it is to deal with it after it has happened.

Well, I was a kindergarten teacher then. My baby was able to grow in a very happy environment; listening to children voices, hearing songs, stories and etc. Thank God, there was no complications during my pregnancy. No vomiting, hardly muscle cramps, able to eat and sleep well and a very enjoyable experience during my pregnancy. Besides that, I love to sing, read and talk to my baby. Even the daddy read bedtime story every night to our precious baby. My believe "mommy is happy, baby is also happy too".

Passion: Cooking

These was the dishes I prepared for dinner today... Home cooked YUMMY food! The BEST in KL.

Stir Fried Lady Fingers

Kung Po Chicken

I NEVER did any major cooking during my young days. I was barred from the kitchen. Why? Because my MOM is the Super Chef in the house. She was worried that we will destroyed her sparkling clean kitchen. The truth? She is the best chef, she can prepare and cook basically any dishes that will make us to salivate even more.

My real passion in cooking was started when I was being transferred temporarily to Johor to reunite with my dear. Well, I was trying to be a good wife then. I tried to cook for both lunch and dinner. But I was just an apprentice then. Thanks to my Sifu aka Mom, I managed to learn and acquired more skills in cooking. I even got the survival tips to prepare any yummy and healthy meals.

Till now, I still called home to consult my mom on food preparation.

Me: Hi Mom! I need to prepare for dinner today. I got chicken drumsticks in the fridge, any suggestions?
Mom: You got any "dong gui"?
Me: Yes...
Mom: Then you can prepare baked chicken drumsticks. Firstly, marinate the chicken with salt. Then... Next... Finally...

And the next day, she will called to ask about the outcome of the dishes. Good follow-up from her!

Sweet Tooth

I had KFC for my dinner. I drank a cup of cold Pepsi. I had a few sips of 100 Plus when I reached back home. I am feeling guilty right now. Hmm... I just remembered I also drank a can of Pepsi few days ago. Extra guilty again! I even craved for iced coffee from OUG kopitiam. Recently I been craving for cold and sweet drinks. WHY? It is because I had been avoiding all these during my pregnancy time, that now is like a "revenge time". I must drink as much as I can to replace what I been missing that time.

I must stop all these temptations... Said NO! I know is not easy to stop everything immediately, I will take it easily. I will restrict myself to consume soft drinks ONLY when I am outside. I will limit my caffeine intake.

The Best Birthday Present of ALL!

This is not the real Present for me. It was for my son instead. Then why this picture is being shown here?
Well, the twist will begin here. This gift of mine, you won't be able to find it anywhere, even at shopping complexes, convenience stores, pasar malam, mini markets & etc. Even money can't buy this present. It was given by my Little Prince Hern Hern. See any similarities here? Prize= Hern Hern = My Best Gift

Ok.. Any clue? Ahem... Let me elaborate now. We (me & my dear) bought a Parenthood magazine (February 2010 issue) at the Borders. We selected the desired photos to be submitted to the contests provided by the magazine. I pasted the information and sealed each photos in its individual envelopes. WE went to the post office and got the POS Express service and put in into the yellow box. In our little heart, we hope to be the next winner next month. Seem like a perfect plan, right?

BUT...

Is ME who forgotten to paste a very important thing to be qualified for the contests. THE CONTEST STAMPS! Oh no! How @#$%*%!

Immediately, I emailed to Parenthood:
========================
Hi! Good day to you.

I just posted my baby pictures for Parenthood (February 2010 issue) monthly contests (My Beautiful Junior, Candid Camera, Stars of Pureen, Happy Holidays & Smiley Babies). However, I just discovered that I forgotten to attached together with the CONTEST STAMPS. Is there any method I can replaced back the stamps? Please revert. Thanks.

AND they replied:

Dear Boon Hui,

The only way is to re-develop the photos and resend them with the cut-out stamps. Reason is because when the persons on duty retrieve the entries, disqualified entries will be discarded and only qualified ones will proceed to the next stage of winner selection.

We are sorry if this causes any inconvenience to you. We hope you understand that we receive just too many entries daily for all our publications and we do not have the time and manpower to process or keep track of incomplete entries.

Thanks again for your participation and may you continue to support the contests.

Regards,
Editorial Team
Parenthood

==========================

Huh... What a waste! I still got the contest stamps with me. What should I do now? Think... Think... OK, better resend another new sets of photos. I repeated the whole process again, selecting the photos, pasting the information and the CONTEST STAMPS and putting them into envelopes.

The next day, me and Hern Hern quickly proceed to the nearest post office. I took the same service again, but this time Hern Hern was the one who put the envelope into the yellow box. Again, we hope to be the winner.

Finally, the month of March, the moment of truth. Deep inside my heart, I got the feeling that Hern Hern will win something from the Parenthood's contest for my coming birthday.

On a fine day, we bought Hern Hern to Giant Puchong for him to play at the indoor playground. Later, we took a rest at the food court. I wanted to get The Star and went to the bookstore. Since I was there, I checked the magazine rack and hunted for Parenthood March issue. I got a copy on my hand... Heart beating very fast... I flipped to the contest pages... AND... WOW! We are the selected winner for Star of Pureen contest. The winning photos was a photo of both ME and Hern Hern! Ohh... I was so touched.

Hot Air Balloon @ Putrajaya

The time was just right. Not too hot, not too cold. We decided to whisk our way to Putrajaya for the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. On our way to Precinct 2, we saw a crowd of people stopping by the bridge. As a typical Malaysian, we did the same. We parked our car and walked along the bridge to "kepoh" around too. Good thing we did that as we managed to catch a glimpse of some floating hot air balloon.

Yellow balloon: Hey girl! Want to go out for a hot date?

Oh... It is a bird? It is a plane? No! Is a hot air balloon!

There was a chanting ceremony when we was there. A live band and a Darth Vader...

Great view at night.

A great bonfire! Barbecuing humans.

Another Baby!

The stork arrived around 10.45am to deliver my new baby. Congrats! Is a HP Mini Netbook!

And... Is all MINE! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!

Comparing the size of HP Netbook with a typical Kilometrico pen. Compact & slim...

Mission: Weaning Time

"Breastfeeding is one of the most natural and beneficial acts a mother can do for her child."

Quoted from: www.motheringfromtheheart.com/Benefits.htm

My Reasons to BF

1) No milk preparation needed, most convenient for a full time mother like ME.
2) Able to reduce weight faster.
3) Can avoid the monthly period, mine came after 9 months.
4) We are BFF (best friend forever), mother & son bonding during the whole time.
5) Save $$$, I can demand for present easily.
------------------------------
Top 5 Reasons to Stop BF

1) Breast milk itself is insufficient for a growing active boy.
2) Its been a long time.. more than 14 months. Ahem! Recommended is up to 6 months.
3) I need to take a BREAK, having a Kit Kat alone is not enough for ME!
4) I need FREEDOM... Let me go... Merdeka!
5) I starting to get bored wearing t-shirts and jeans. I miss my DRESSES!

Free but NOT Free Lunch @ Nandos

I got this RM20 x 2 pcs of Nandos vouchers today... However, it costs me 4000 points of HSBC redemption points to redeem each voucher (total of 8000 points = RM8000 I spent using this card). Yippee! I am richer today and we decided to treat ourself at Nandos OUG for lunch. Hmm... it seem that this RM40 voucher is just a teeny-weeny value as compared to their menu prices.

At the end of the day... Total bill = RM51.45. I still need to pay RM11.45 for the excess bill. Hmm... What if this voucher is CASH itself? I may enjoy a better treat at my nearby Tien Tien Restaurant.

Yep, managed to tapau the remaining for my tea time. Seem impressive with their take away packaging.

Ta da! Two pathethic chicken wings... Such a small potion tea time.

Present of The Year 2010

Sayonara 2009, Welcoming 2010

Definitely there will be different resolutions, aims, desires, hopes & etc. For me, I been wondering what should I "demand"for my present of the year. Emm... maybe a new handphone or another additional Thomas Sabo to my current collections? Or maybe a holiday around the world? Haha... Confirmed any oversea trip will be impossible with my NEW role as a MOTHER. So, I been scratching my head, scouting around & surfing the Internet... FINALLY, I decided to get...

Another CAMERA!

NOT just any ordinary camera...

BUT...

Panasonic Lumix FZ35! I got this on 18/2/2010 (happy 1 month)

Why camera again?

1) Current Nikon was unable to take NICE pictures.
2) Need to acquire & upgrade photography skills

&

Most importantly...

A picture speaks a thousand words

Welcoming Speech...

Welcome!

Finally, I took up the courage to set up on my own blog. I always wanted to write a diary BUT... the LAZINESS in me managed to prevent me from doing so. I tried to pen down a few pages before... and that's the end of story. I do blog in another blogspot, but that site focused more on "Pictures speaks a thousand words" = less words with more pictures.

Hopefully, with this blog of mine, I am able to share anything or everything about ME. For this blog, I believed "The pen is mightier than the sword".

Hereby, I officially declared the official launching date on:
18 March 2010 @ 8.18am

Why choose jiahern.blogspot.com? Initially, I tried to enter few name but got rejected. Then I typed jiahern... and it was available. Why not choose this name? At least I can book for my son, just in case he also want to be a blogger like ME in the future. Haha.. "Kiasu" case.

My motto: To maintain this as a daily blog

Tea Party!

Everyone is invited to this Tea Party!
