Minced Meat Balls In Sweet And Sour Sauce

Ingredients

  • 100g pork tenderloin, minced
  • 50g shelled prawns, coarsely minced
  • 30g water-chestnuts, coarsely minced
  • 20g sweet corn kernels
  • ½ a tomato, cut into wedges
  • 1 stalk spring onion, cut into 1cm lengths
  • ½ a red chilli, cubed

    Seasoning

  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp sugar
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • ¼ tsp chicken stock granules
  • 1 tbsp cornflour

    Sauce

  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp chilli garlic sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp oyster sauce
  • Dash of monosodium glutamate
  • 5 tbsp water

    Method
Combine minced meat, prawns, water-chestnuts, sweet corn kernels and seasoning in a bowl. Stir to mix well. In the mixing, bring up the mixture and slap against the sides of the bowl until mixture turns sticky.

Lightly grease the palm of your hand and take out a tablespoon of mixture. Shape into a round ball.

Repeat until all the minced meat mixture is completed.

Heat oil in a wok and deep-fry the meat balls for 2 minutes or until they turn golden. Dish out.

Heat a nonstick saucepan and cook the sauce to a boil. Add chilli, tomato and spring onion. Return the prefried meat balls to the saucepan. Cook and toss for 1-2 minutes until well coated with the sauce.

    Dish out and serve.

  • Grill Chicken Recipe (taken from Kuali website)

    Grill Chicken

This is one of the easiest and quickest dish to prepare. All you have to do is marinate and grill it to perfection. Here’s a simple how-to.

    Ingredients :

    • 1 chicken breast
    • 1/2 tsp pepper
    • Juice of half a lemon
    • 3 tsp honey
    • 2 1/2 tsp Italian herbs
    • Salt to taste
    • 1 clove garlic, diced
    • 2 tbsp olive oil

    Method :

First, cut the chicken breast open (half).

Mix in half a lemon juice, Italian herbs, honey, salt, pepper, and lastly olive oil into a bowl.

Then add the chicken and let it marinate for at least 2 hours. It’s better if it’s marinated longer.

Heat up a non stick pan for at least a minute or so. This will make the top of the chicken nice and brown.

Let the top side cook for at least 3 minutes on medium heat and then flip it over and let it cook till its perfect ( do not over cook as the chicken will be dry).

    New Corner In The Room

    "Sleeping Prince"

We bought a new single spring bed mattress (RM199) from Ikea for our Hern Hern's 18 months old present. We felt that he is now a very independent boy, well ready to sleep on his OWN on his OWN bed. Yep, a single bed by himself even though he is only 86.5cm tall. Time to wean him off from our queen size bed and welcome daddy back to the room again. So far so good, he seem to enjoy his little corner in the room. He is able to sleep for least 3 hours straight during the afternoon nap and up to 12 hours for his night sleep. Wow! A record holder for this boy!

For safety measures, we barricaded his bed with pillows and bolsters. At least, it is much more safer than sleeping on our bed. We even got him his favorite bed sheet with balls printed on it. This will help him to enjoy his full ownership for his little island.
